Coronary Angioplasty

Angioplasty is abbreviation of (angio = artery + plasty = repair). Coronary angioplasty is the treatment of coronary heart disease. This treatment is performed to widen the narrow passage due to atherosclerosis within the blood vessel that cause the obstruction of normal blood flow to the heart. Angioplasty is sometimes taken as emergency treatment who have had heart attack, unstable angina.

The causing factors of atherosclerosis may be lack of physical activity, smoking, food habits and many more. Atherosclerosis is a condition in which a material called plaque (plak) builds up on the inner walls of the arteries. This can happen in any artery, including the coronary arteries, which carry oxygen-rich blood to your heart. When atherosclerosis affects the coronary arteries, the condition is called Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
